Programs & Format

How classes work

Are lessons online or in person?

Most lessons are taught live online. A limited number of in-person spots are also available for students in South County, Rhode Island and Southeastern Connecticut.

How big are the classes?

Group classes are capped at six students and grouped by level. Private one-on-one instruction is available for every program.

What ages do you teach?

Young Learners programs are for kids and teens ages 10 to 17. Adult and Executive programs are open to anyone beyond that.

What's the difference between Adult Instruction and Conversation Circles?

Adult Instruction is structured, level-based teaching across six levels. Conversation Circles are speaking-focused practice sessions in small groups, for students who already understand Spanish but want more fluency.

What if there aren't enough students at my child's level for a group class?

Small-group placement for Young Learners depends on enough students being at a similar level. Individual sessions are available in the meantime.

Pricing & Policies

What to expect

How much do lessons cost?

Pricing is tailored to each program and shared during your free 45-minute consultation, so you get a rate that matches your goals and schedule.

Is there a discount for referrals?

Yes — a 10% discount is offered when you refer a friend or sibling to any program.

Do I need to sign a long-term contract?

No. Enrollment is rolling, with no fixed terms, waitlists, or long-term contracts.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel 24+ hours ahead for full credit or a make-up session. Cancellations inside 24 hours are billed at half the session rate, and no-shows are billed in full. Illness or emergencies get a make-up session within 14 days.

Do unused sessions expire?

Weekly students can carry over one missed session per month. Single sessions expire after 60 days.

How do I get started?

We'll assess your current Spanish level (or your child's), talk through your goals and schedule, and recommend the program and format — private or small-group — that fits best. There's no obligation to continue.

Who teaches at NESA?

Every program is overseen by founder Jo Smith, who has over 35 years of teaching experience in New England and Spain, working alongside a small team of teachers she trained personally.

Can I choose evening or weekend sessions?
